How to setup print ready artwork for a media wall

How to setup print ready artwork for a media wall is easy! Request the exact template file from your printer to suit the set size media wall you are after – Note, our 2 largest media wall templates, 4000mm wide and 6000mm wide are scaled down by 50% in order to fit Adobe pasteboard size limitations.
The template will include bleed lines, safe zones and the final trim size for your media wall, so it is important to ensure your artwork is setup accordingly for best print results.
Open the template in the correct design software
Adobe Illustrator (best for vector artwork)
Adobe photoshop (for photo-heavy designs)
Adobe indesign (for a combination of everything, and in our opinion, the best option)
Place and design your artwork
Place the template onto a new layer, then lock it in place.
Place your logo, images and graphics within the safe zone on the template.
Ensure all key elements are not placed too close to the edges, as they could be in danger of being cropped from the final design when the fabric for the media wall is trimmed to final size.
Ensure you use high resolution images, 300DPI uncompressed photos, and vector graphics. Media walls are big!! so any low quality components will look terribly once printed at 100% size.
Respect bleeds and safe zones
Extend any solid background colours, images or patterns past the trim line, into the bleed area, which is typically 3-5mm.
Keep text and critical graphics inside the safe zones for best print results when using artwork print templates.
Colour modes and file setup
Set your document colour mode to CMYK (NOT RGB) for accurate CMYK print results. Printers cannot print in RGB colours, RGB colours are for on screen/monitor display only.
Embed or outline all fonts by going type dropdown, then selected create outlines with the text selected.
Flatten transparencies and embed linked images.
Export a print ready PDF document
Export with:
High quality print or press quality settings in place.
No colour conversion unless specified.
No bleed or crop marks are required, as this information is already within the artwork template you have used.
Double check everything
Review size, bleeds and safe zones.
Proof your spelling and logo placements.
Ensure image resolutions are 300 DPI – Inknition pre-production systems will notify is anything issue and you are unsure.
Check colour conversions (CMYK values match expectations).
Submit to print
